The District Executive decided in 2017 to introduce the District President’s Award, however in 2022 the executive decided on a name change to reflect a team approach in selecting the sub branch who has made an outstanding improvement to welfare services.

The award is a perpetual trophy that is to be awarded to a sub branch each year that has engaged with the community and excelled in meeting the welfare and commemorative objectives of the League.

The award is being presented tonight for the 7^th time since its introduction in 2017 and the judging relates to the performance of the sub branches during 2023.

The Sub Branch is a small traditional Sub Branch and during 2023:

1. Ran very successful ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day & Vietnam Veterans Day commemorative services on behalf of their community.
2. Over the last twelve months there has been a significant improvement in the provision of their welfare service including home and hospital visits
3. The Sub Branch has also organised numerous functions for their veterans and social members.
4.  While it is a traditional sub branch, it runs a very active facility for its members and anybody who follows Facebook will agree.

The Executive Encouragement Award for 2023 is RSL Emu Park Sub Branch.

I asked President, Gary Hedt, to come forward and receive the trophy on behalf of the Sub Branch.
