Australia Day Awards – 2022 (Sharon Heaslip)

I was talking to Sharon at a Dawn service at Hampden State School she offered to come and entertain the Returned Service Personal as well as whoever wanted to go to Monty Edmonds place for the afternoon.

Everyone enjoyed Sharon’s afternoon of singing songs of yester year which brought back memories and sometime tears in the eyes of the veterans and the older generation that took the time to listen to the beautiful voice of Sharon.

Sharon was asked to sing at the Dawn Service within the Pioneer Valley on Anzac Day where she started at the Marian sub-branch at 4.30am and what a beautiful sound in the crisp clearness at the start of such an important day in the lives of many Veteran’s, Children & Adults then Sharon sang her way around the Pioneer Valley and Mackay.

This is why this application for this Award is a fitting tribute to a person who takes the time for the veterans to make their twilight years that bit more enjoyable.

To the RSL PFH President and Committee
Hello, Thank you so much for a wonderful humbling surprise to be awarded a beautiful 2022 Australia Day RSL Silver Medallion.

I have been and always will be so Thankful to our serving men and women who keep our wonderful Australia free. I’ve admired and endeavoured to live by the great ANZAC spirit…with what they’ve been through, I have no reason to complain and all the more reason to have a go. 🌟

It’s been an honour to sing at the Marian, Kuttabul, Gargett, Mirani, Finch Hatton services and functions, the Rats of Tobruk Dinners, RSL funerals and anything that was asked of me and especially singing for Keith Jamieson OAM “May We Never Forget” and thanking each member.

Thankyou John Edwards and the Mackay District RSL. While my head bows and tears flow at the end of this for me, my flame of Respect will never dim.

I do hope to get to a health point where I can contribute more in some way, that’s in God’s hands.

I do truly appreciate everything.
Thankyou
Sharon Heaslip.
