AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS PRESENTED AT RSL YEPPOON SUB BRANCH & MACKAY 2021.

I thank President Bill Tahu for giving me this opportunity at your meeting here today to perform a very important duty and recognise two of your Sub-Branch’s hard working members.
The Australia Day Medallion Program provides an inspiring way to recognise the contribution of individuals and teams for outstanding performance on special projects or in the performance of their core duties within Australian organisations. The Australia Day medallions are reserved for the highest level of recognition and provide a unique way of inspiring and recognising staff and volunteers when presented in the lead up to Australia Day, on the 26th January each year.
RSL Queensland participates in this program each year and two medals are allocated to each District for awarding to two special individuals in the District. However, we were given special dispensation by RSL Queensland to present three awards this year.
The criteria for awarding these medallions are left to each organisation to determine. However, the PFH District Executive in awarding the three medallions for 2020 has considered the common themes of outstanding achievement, length of service and contributions to the RSL.
One of the other RSL Pioneer-Fitzroy-Highlands District Australia Day Silver Medallion is yet to be presented at this time and will not be presented until the end of the coming week. An announcement will be made via the District Newsletter at that time.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am honoured to announce that 2021 RSL Pioneer-Fitzroy-Highlands-District Australia Day Silver Medallions have been awarded to Brian and Evelyn Daly.
Brian and Evelyn are a formidable husband and wife team who have provided welfare services to Sub Branch members and members of the Yeppoon community over many years.
Brian has been a service member of the Sub Branch for around 20 years, and with Evelyn at his side, they have unselfishly volunteered their time to help those in need.
Most of us here will know the contribution they make to the Yeppoon RSL and the Yeppoon community in general and it is timely that their services are recognised by the RSL.
It is now my honour to present the Silver Medallions and certificates that comes with the Award to Brian and Evelyn, and I ask that you recognise them in the usual way.

Evelyn & Brian Daly and Mr Barry Vains OAM.
President of P-F-H District
